It has the abillity to fix any sort of issue in simple clicks to render a healthy Word file. I had installed that a few weeks before I discovered the problem and never used Office on Vista PC since installation. Check This Out

To get over the higher than mentioned Word document file corruption situations, its counseled to stay backup of the vital document file to the different secondary storage device before facing any I tried every fix I could think of..but the documents just seemed to hang. We only had to disable the smb on the server. Here is the link with all the information leading up to it...the download link and another article explaining in more depth can be found near the bottom of the posts. By that I mean, if you open the shared folder and click on the document, word or excel opens and you get the green status bar in explorer crawling across.
