It has the abillity to fix any sort of issue in simple clicks to render a healthy Word file. I had installed that a few weeks before I discovered the problem and never used Office on Vista PC since installation. Check This Out

We only had to disable the smb on the server. Here is the link with all the information leading up to it...the download link and another article explaining in more depth can be found near the bottom of the posts.
