I have tried to disable quickplay in the device manager, as someone else suggested on another forum. No sound! But what would you rather have, a pain in the ass because you had to put in some tedious work or a pain in the ass because you got screwed in A few weeks ago with no apparent cause, my audio began to mute itself.

The most reliable way to temporarily correct this has been mentioned previously - shoving an audio plug into the jack and pulling it out rapidly a bunch of times.
