My Administrator Doesnt Work
Have Ghost, can restore to Monday, but that is a last resort for me. I'll reinstall (for the 6th time) andcheck it immediately after it is finished... I was lucky that I had a 2-day old Acronis TrueImage backup to restore. I turned on UAC (to troubleshoot a different issue) and I was able to set and run exes as admin. In fact, the checkmark quit holding, except under "change settings for all users," but that wasn't having any effect. ... You could cause the computer to not boot.Since You can change settings adversely, Please back up First. You can always play around with GodMode..........
I really need the new Admin account to be a true Admin account. I don't dare delete my pre-set Admin account if I know that my new local one is bogus. Windows 7 Uac What a plonker! If not, there may be something wrong with the program you are trying to launch. if you use the net user command, you have to right click on command.exe and select "run as administrator".
How Does a computer get Infected? Turn Off Uac I ran the file and rebooted but it didn't fix the problem. When booted up I tried to schedule chkdsk in cmd prompt, & this message came up immediately "You Need Administrator Rights To Perform This Operation" (within the dos box). I suspect there are a number of other unrelated programs, not all free either, causing this malfunction too.

I thought Admins had access to everything, whether they were "first user" or an Admin account created later. Also, it's not the context menu that's the problem: it's Modern UI only. I adamantly assumed it would have god-like privileges so was sure something was really screwed up.
I just discovered a desktop icon that I regularly use (VPN), that I had set to run as administrator under the compatibility tab, wasn't running as administrator.
I again opened the Start menu but this time went to All Programs, Accessories, Run As Administrator works there? Took a LONG time but they finally finished. If I check the Properties/Security on a folder/file, it will show the account, saying that it is Admin, and showing the same controls as my Admin account, but it is unable I have loaded several software packages and last night there was a larger number of updates installed.
